WB SET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The WBCSC has laid out the eligibility criteria for WB SET 2025 exam for your application to be considered.

• For General/EWS Candidates: Candidate must have a Master’s Degree or an equivalent qualification from a UGC-recognized university or institution with at least 55% marks (without rounding off).
• For Reserved Categories: If the candidate is belong to the OBC (non-creamy layer), SC, ST, PWD, or Transgender categories, they are eligible with at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in your Master’s degree or equivalent examination from a UGC-recognized university.
• PhD Holders: If the candidate is a Ph.D. degree holder and completed his Master’s level examination by September 19th, 1991, he gets a 5% relaxation in the aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in SET.
• Appearing Candidates: This is a fantastic provision for those who are still pursuing their Master’s degree. They can apply for the test if they are in the final year of their qualifying examination and your result is still pending. However, candidates must complete a Master’s degree with the required percentage of marks within two years from the date the SET result is declared, or he will be disqualified.

There is no upper age limit for applying for the SET. However, for recruitment purposes, the relevant Government Order will be applicable.

The Examination Structure of WB SET 2025 Exam

The WB SET 2025 exam will consist of two papers, both of which consist of only objective-type questions and will be held on the same day, December 14th, 2025. The test will be conducted in two separate sessions:

• Paper-I (First Session): This paper is a one-hour test from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. (IST) . It has 50 compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 100 marks. The questions are designed to assess your teaching and research aptitude, including reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness.
• Paper-II (Second Session): This is a two-hour test from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. (IST) . It consists of 100 compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 200 marks. The questions in this paper are based on the subject you have selected.

Important to note: There are no negative marks for incorrect answers. This is a crucial piece of information that can influence your test-taking strategy. You are required to mark your responses on an OMR sheet provided along with the test booklet using a black ball point pen only. You should not use a pencil, as your OMR sheet will be rejected if you do.

Examination Fee for WB SET 2025

The candidates must pay the WB SET 2025 examination fees to complete the application, remember the application fees are non-refundable.

Payment Mode: The candidates may pay the Examination fee either by credit card/debit card/internet banking. The additional processing charges will be as applicable. Fee submitted by any other mode like Bank Challan, money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be rejected. Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances.
